Chula Vista Fireworks Display begins at 9 PM at the Chula Vista Yacht Harbor.
Coronado Island is a festive place to go for an Independence Day celebration. The fun begins early in the morning with a 15k Run/Walk at 7 AM. You may want to participate in the rough-water swim at 8:30 AM. The 4th of July parade down Orange Avenue is always popular and begins at 10 AM. It's followed by a concert in Spreckels Park at 4 PM. Hornblower Cruises Enjoy music, food, and fireworks aboard the Inspiration Hornblower. Watch the fireworks up close and on the Bay. $125 for adults and $75 for children. Telephone: (619) 686-8715.
La Jolla Fireworks exlode at 9 PM and can be viewed from La Jolla Cove, Scripps Park, and Jolla Shores Beach. These fireworks were almost cancelled, but private donors came to the rescue. Telephone: (858) 454-1444

National City San Diego Firework display begins at 9 PM at Kimball Park.
Ocean Beach Fireworks display starts at 9 PM at the Ocean Beach Pier. Telephone: (619) 226-8613

Port of San Diego Called the Big Bay Boom 2009, this is expected be the biggest firework display in the area. Fireworks will be launched simultaneously from 4 strategically placed barges. The show will begin at 9 PM and last 16 1/2 minutes. Best viewing spots include Shelter Island, Harbor Island, the north Embarcadero area, Seaport Village, and the Coronado Ferry Landing. Poway begins the day with Old Fashioned 4th of July activities from 10AM until 4 PM at Old Poway Park. Fireworks show will be a 9PM at Poway High School.
Rancho Bernardo Activities kick off at 10 AM at Webb Park. Enjoy the parade on Bernardo Center Drive at 3:30 PM. Fireworks around 9 PM at Rancho Bernardo High School. Telephone: (619) 889-8505

USS Midway Watch a variety of San Diego firework displays from the deck of this ship that is permanently docked in downtown San Diego. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Bring lawn chairs,and ice chests with food and beverages (but no alcohol). Opens at 6 PM. Telephone: (619) 544-9600
