Michael & Elizabeth Moffatt

HOW WE MET
With the lights low, music bumping, and dressed in “Ghetto Fabulous” wear we met at Sanctuary nightclub in 2000. Over the next few years, we maintained our friendship and then reconnected with a little bit of Sugar and a day of Sunday football.

From that moment on, we were inseparable. After our fourth month of dating, we decided to move to sunny San Diego, CA in 2005. Two years and several house guests later we got engaged!

WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED
February 17, 2007
HOW IT HAPPENED
We begin our day driving PCH to stop in Del Mar for breakfast. After dodging 73 bicyclists while crossing the street, we safely made it to our destination, Pacifica Del Mar.

After breakfast, we walked the area and were tempted to buy an $80,000 seagull at a gallery. However, we quickly realized it would not match our futon and left empty handed.

We drove through Solana Beach, Cardiff by the Sea, and stopped in Carlsbad. Once in Carlsbad, we jumped out of Lucky to walk on the beach and snap some pictures. We walked up to a woman to take a photo and it suddenly turned into a proposal of a lifetime.

As we hugged on the sand, the audience applause rang out and a little girl ran up to us to say she saw us kissing. Soon after, we were back in Lucky heading back home to pack overnight bags, and then shop for engagement outfits.

As we drove over the Coronado Bridge, it reminded us of our first date in San Diego, dinner and a gondola ride around the Bay. Next, we arrived at Buster’s Beach House, where we were greeted by 20 of our friends waiting to celebrate with us.

We were able to disappear from our friends to enjoy a private dinner overlooking the harbor. Our table was covered with rose petals, candles, and a bottle of champagne. After an amazing night of dinner and dancing, we headed back to our bayside suite at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort.

Opening the door to an overwhelming candle lit room (some may say a fire hazard) and rose petals that lead to our bedroom, just one last present was waiting. The gift was filled with lingerie and wedding magazines.

So how did we end our evening? Popping another bottle of champagne!
