The sun can put on such a spectacular show that diners even applaud as it disappears behind the sea.Mount Soledad in La Jolla is 822 feet high above San Diego and offers 360 degree views of the coastline and the surrounding area. To the south you can see past San Diego and Coronado all the way to Mexico. Look east and view the mountains; south you see the Pacific Ocean; and north you gaze past the University of California at San Diego, and Torrey Pines. You will find grass areas, benches, walkways, and a Veterans Memorial Wall that honors veterans from all wars and conflicts. This is a great place for sunset scenery. 
Sunset Gondola Cruises let you experience the romance and magic of Venice right here in San Diego. Cruise through the canals and waterways of the Coronado Cays in a gondola driven by a gondolier dressed in traditional Italian clothing. Mount Helix Park
in La Mesa has breathtaking views of the city and the coast from its elevation of 1370 feet high. The El Prado area of Balboa Park
is one of the most romantic places in San Diego during sunsets. This is the heart of Balboa Park built in 1915 for a world’s fair. As the sun is setting, it can cast a glow over the Spanish Colonial buildings, creating an unforgettable romantic ambiance.

Any of San Diego’s beaches would be a great place to watch the sunset. My personal favorites are La Jolla Cove, Sunset Cliffs, and Windansea. I love watching the cliffs along the shore begin to glow as the sky changes colors. The colorful seascapes at sunset create a romantic setting that is truly special.
