Sunset Cliffs Natural Park
Sunset Cliffs Natural Park encompasses a number of beaches including Gargage Beach, No Surf Beach, and New Break Beach. The beaches are located at the base of 68 acres of rugged cliffs dotted with walking trails overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
The scenic cliffs and panoramic ocean scenery makes this one of the most romantic beaches in San Diego. This is a great place to watch one of San Diego's spectacular sunsets and also a great choice for a romantic proposal.
After learning about this beach, be sure to check out these other San Diego beaches: Blacks Beach | Coronado | Del Mar | Ocean Beach| Imperial Beach La Jolla Childrens Pool | La Jolla Cove | La Jolla Shores Marine Street |Mission Bay | Mission Beach | Windansea Beach Torrey Pines State Beach | Pacific Beach | Silver Strand
Hiking, a romantic stroll, bird watching, swimming, sunbathing, whale watching, and surfing are popular activities. You might spot a gray whale as it migrates south during the winter months. This occurs from December through March with January being the peak of the migration.
Getting down the cliffs to the beach is not an easy task. There are steep stairs near Ladera Street that you can take down to the beach. It's too dangerous to climb the cliffs. Directions:Take I-8 west. It turns into Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, which takes you to the beaches. Most parking is on the street although there are a few small parking lots. Park near Ladera Street for the easiest access down to the beach.
